KATHMANDU: Prime Minister KP Oli has instructed the subordinate agencies to spare no effort for the rescue, relief and protection of the lives and property of the disaster victims.
The Prime Minister instructed the officials of the concerned agencies to work effectively to reduce the loss of life and property due to floods and landslides triggered by monsoon rains in different parts of the country and to carry out immediate rescue and relief.
Member-Secretary of the National Council for Disaster Risks Reduction and Management (NCDRRM) Anil Pokharel said that during a meeting of the council on Saturday, Prime Minister Oli directed to make every effort to save the lives and property of people.
The Prime Minister was briefed on the preparations of the concerned ministries and agencies to deal with the floods, landslides, epidemics and snake bites across the country.
Member-Secretary Pokharel said that PM Oli instructed to work with risk reduction, rescue and relief and rehabilitation at the priority.
Similarly, PM Oli instructed Finance Minister Yubaraj Khatiwada to immediately arrange the additional budget, if necessary, for rescue, relief and rehabilitation work.
He also emphasized on the use of helicopters in rescue operations and opting for other possible technologies in case of adverse conditions and urged the Nepal Army and the Armed Police Force to pay special attention to the safety of the rescuers.
Nepal Congress President Sher Bahadur Deuba urged the government to be more vigilant as disasters occur in the rainy season through the county.
He also drew the attention of the government to make sure that there is no lack of resources in rescue and relief efforts.
