RSP central committee election concludes, results expected within two hours

CHITWAN: The election for the central committee members under the first general convention of the Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) has been completed, with vote counting now underway.

According to party officials, the results are expected to be announced within approximately two hours.

Voting was conducted through an electronic system developed by Ram–Laxman voting machine.

Once the results are announced, the process for selecting office-bearers will begin. Party leaders said that efforts will be made to reach consensus in selecting office-bearers, and if agreement is achieved, an election may not be necessary.

However, if consensus cannot be reached, elections will be held for six key office-bearer positions as per party regulations.

RSP Deputy General Secretary Bipin Kumar Acharya said that political parties typically prioritize consensus in selecting leadership, and the RSP is also attempting to follow the same practice.

He added that consensus will be explored until the last moment, but if it is not possible, office-bearers will be selected through a democratic electoral process.

The party’s first general convention will move to its final phase after the announcement of central committee results, which will determine the selection of the party chair, vice-chairs, general secretary, and other office-bearers.
