NC expresses sorrow over loss of life



KATHMANDU: The Nepali Congress party has expressed sorrow over the loss of life and property due to flood, landslide and inundation following incessant rainfall in various districts of the country as well as on the hardship faced by the victims.

NC President Sher Bahadur Deuba expressed sadness over this incident of natural disaster and urged the government to prevent further loss of lives and property by mobilising rescue teams at the earliest for saving lives and making the rescue and relief works effective at this sensitive time.

He has also directed the party’s local units and sister organisations at the disaster affected areas to extend the required cooperation in the rescue and relief of the families of the victims.

Seven people have died and 11 others have been injured in Kaski, three people have died and four others have sustained injuries in Lamjung, two have died and 21 have gone missing in Sindhupalchok and 32 people are missing in Myagdi district in flood, landslide and inundation following incessant rainfall since some days.

Similarly, many people have been displaced from their houses and the citizens are facing difficulty due to the disruption of surface transport caused by flood and landslide at several places, it is stated.
