Govt to resume pass system in view of COVID-19 spike

KATHMANDU: The government is preparing to resume pass system replacing the existing odd-even system stating that the latter system gave rise to coronavirus cases.

It is learnt that the pass system is being imposed in view of the increasing cases of coronavirus in the Kathmandu Valley as well as other various places.

The government is holding discussion on this issue, a government official said on the condition of anonymity.

With the lockdown in place on March 24, the district administration office had imposed pass system for urgent private vehicles. The system had been lifted on June 15 and the odd-even system was imposed.
