Landslide damages a house, 10 more at risk



BAITADI: Landslides have been reported in various parts of the district since the onset of monsoon. On Saturday night, the house of Mangal Aiyer in ward no. 7 of Puchaurdi municipality was buried in a landslide.

The landslide has also posed a risk to 10 more houses in the same locality, said local resident Dev Bahadur Aiyer. The family of Mangal is now taking shelter in another house.

Likewise, in ward no. 3 of the same municipality, the Saturday rain damaged two water mills, a culvert and vegetation. Floodwater from the Sapaiya stream washed away two mills and one culvert, said local resident Khem Raj Joshi.

With the culvert over the stream washed away, traveling to the municipality headquarters, ward office and neighboring Dilasaini rural municipality have been affected.
