Grade 11 to have new curriculum from new session

KATHMANDU: The Curriculum Development Center is introducing new curriculum for Grade 11 from the new academic session.

According to CDC sources, the government is planning to introduce the long-awaited curriculum update for grade 11 from the academic session 2020/21.

The Ministry of Education, Science and Technology, which decided to arrange a special provision of promoting Grade 10 to Grade 11 and Grade 11 to Grade 12 on the basis of internal assessment, has also consented for the introduction of new curriculum to Grade 11 from the academic year 2020/21.

Director General of Curriculum Development Center Keshav Dahal confirmed that a new course would be introduced for Grade 11 from the new academic session.

“We are currently working on introducing the new curriculum for Grade 11 from this year,” Dahal said.

According to Dahal, the Grade 11 students enrolled for the new academic session will attempt 600 as full marks. Previously, they used to have 500 full marks.

The new grade in Grade 11 has to go through three compulsory subjects — Nepali, English and Social Studies.

Till to date, they had two compulsory subjects — Nepali and English. However, the number of optional subjects for grade 11 will be same as before, i.e. three.

However, the students can attempt one more subject as additional subject if they want so.

Breaking the trend of letting the private publications prepare and publish the text books, CDC is getting the text books published through Janak Education Material Center.

CDC has requested the experts to prepare the content for optional subjects as well.

According to Director General Dahal, experts are instructed to submit the sample textbook by mid-July.
