Finance Committee expresses concern over Nepal Rastra Bank report

KATHMANDU: The parliamentary Finance Committee has expressed serious concern over a report submitted by the Nepal Rastra Bank, saying it lacked the expected data and substantive details requested by the committee.

At a meeting held in Singha Durbar on Tuesday, lawmakers noted that the report did not include sufficient factual information despite an earlier directive to provide a concise document supported by data.

During its meeting on June 19, the committee had instructed the central bank to submit a detailed report containing relevant facts and figures.

However, as the submitted report did not address the required elements, the committee decided to formally instruct the central bank to resubmit the document with clear and comprehensive details, according to committee chair Krishnahari Banskota Budhathoki.

Members of the committee said the report was incomplete and called for a revised submission.

The committee also decided to hold consultations with experts and stakeholders regarding monetary policy in upcoming meetings.
