Govt allocates Rs 15 billion for health insurance, expands burn treatment capacity



KATHMANDU: The government has allocated Rs 15 billion for the health insurance programme in the upcoming fiscal year 2026/27.

The allocation is Rs 5 billion higher than in the current fiscal year, where Rs 10 billion had been set aside for the programme.

Finance Minister Swarnim Wagle made the announcement while presenting the annual budget in the Federal Parliament.

The government also announced plans to expand the capacity of intensive burn treatment services at Bir Hospital and Kirtipur Hospital.
