Education sector budget increased by Rs 7 billion

KATHMANDU: The government has increased the allocation for the education sector by Rs 7 billion in the upcoming fiscal year.

Presenting the budget for fiscal year 2083/84, Finance Minister Swarnim Wagle announced that the total education budget has been raised from Rs 211.17 billion in the current fiscal year to Rs 218.30 billion for the next fiscal year.

The government said the modest increase reflects its revised spending priorities, with a focus on improving access, quality, and infrastructure in the education sector.

Officials said the additional allocation will support ongoing reforms and development programmes aimed at strengthening Nepal’s education system.
