One person dies in Nuwakot jeep accident



NUWAKOT: One person died and two others were seriously injured in a jeep accident in Nuwakot last evening.

According to Chief Police Inspector Binod Dhakal of the District Traffic Police Office, Nuwakot, 35-year-old Sanjeev Kumar Chaudhary of Sukhipur Municipality-2, Siraha, died after being seriously injured in the accident at Gurjebhanjyang in Shivapuri Rural Municipality-6 along the Chhare-Tokha road section.

He was declared dead upon arrival at Grande Hospital in Kathmandu, where he had been taken for treatment. Police identified him through the driver’s licence he was carrying.

The injured, identified as 40-year-old Utsav Pokharel of Inaruwa Municipality-5, Sunsari, and 44-year-old Lokesh Mishra of Gaurighat, Kathmandu Metropolitan City-9, are undergoing treatment at Grande Hospital, according to Superintendent of Police Bipin Regmi of the District Police Office, Nuwakot.

Police said the electric jeep was travelling from Dhikure to Kathmandu when it lost control and plunged around 150 metres off the road near Gurjebhanjyang in Shivapuri Rural Municipality-6.

Despite darkness and the difficult forest terrain, police, with the help of local residents, rescued the injured and sent them to Kathmandu for treatment.
