Five families affected as landslide damages homes in Kaski



POKHARA: Five families have been affected after a landslide damaged houses, livestock sheds and farmland in Annapurna Rural Municipality-10 of Kaski district last night.

According to the District Police Office, Kaski, the one-story thatched house of local resident Prem Baniya was completely destroyed after the landslide struck on Sunday night. Food grains, clothing and other household belongings kept inside the house were buried.

The landslide also damaged the house of another local, Chan Bahadur Chhetri, and destroyed crops planted on about three ropanis of land, police said.

A cow died and a buffalo was injured after a landslide hit the livestock shed of local resident Rajman BK. The houses of Khushi Maya BK and Purna Bahadur Sunar have also been put at risk by the landslide.

No human casualties were reported in the incident, according to Deputy Superintendent of Police Birendra Kumar Paswan of the District Police Office, Kaski.

Following the incident, a police team led by Deputy Inspector Rajendra Poudel from the Ghandruk Area Police Post was deployed to the site for rescue and assessment.
