Parliament completes preparations for budget presentation in joint session

KATHMANDU: The Federal Parliament Secretariat has announced that all preparations have been completed for the joint session of Parliament where the annual budget for fiscal year 2026/27 will be presented.

The joint meeting of the House of Representatives and the National Assembly will be held at 4 PM on Friday in the multipurpose hall of the new and under-construction Federal Parliament building in Singha Durbar.

Finance Minister Dr. Swarnim Wagle will present the national budget on behalf of the government during the session.

According to Parliament Secretariat spokesperson Ekram Giri, although the new House chamber was initially planned for the budget presentation, the session had to be moved to the multipurpose hall as finishing work in the chamber is yet to be completed.

The Secretariat has requested all members of both Houses to take their seats before the session begins.

Spokesperson Giri also informed that due to space limitations, constitutional officeholders, senior government officials, and heads of diplomatic missions in Nepal will not be invited to attend this year’s budget presentation ceremony.
