Chinese premier Li congratulates PM Balen Shah



KATHMANDU: Li Qiang, premier of China, has sent a congratulatory message to Nepal’s newly appointed Prime Minister Balen Shah.

In the message sent on March 27, Li reiterated China’s support for the governance of the Government of Nepal and expressed commitment to continuously support Nepal in safeguarding its independence, sovereignty and territorial integrity.

He also expressed his willingness to work with Prime Minister Shah to advance the high-level joint construction of the Belt and Road Initiative and expand cooperation in various sectors to further deepen bilateral ties. Li said China–Nepal relations would be advanced toward a long-term strategic partnership oriented toward development and prosperity.

Describing the relationship between China and Nepal as a traditional friendship connected by mountains and rivers, Li also recalled that the two countries have strengthened bilateral relations based on the Five Principles of Peaceful Coexistence since the establishment of diplomatic ties 71 years ago.

Earlier, congratulatory wishes were also conveyed to Shah by Lin Jian through the Embassy of China in Nepal.
