Supreme Court clarifies no plan to review lottery-based case listing system

KATHMANDU: The Supreme Court has clarified that it has no intention of reviewing or changing the existing lottery-based case listing system used for daily case management.

Issuing a press statement today, Supreme Court spokesperson Arjun Prasad Koirala said that case listings have been managed under the Case Listing Procedure Directive, which is currently in effect.

The statement noted that there has been no formal discussion or consideration within the judiciary about revisiting or replacing the lottery system used for scheduling cases.

The court issued the clarification in response to reports circulated in some media outlets and social media platforms suggesting that an alternative to the system was being considered.
