NC lawmaker KC calls for inclusive national dialogue on constitutional amendment

KATHMANDU: Nepali Congress lawmaker Arjun Narsingh KC has suggested holding an inclusive, all-party national conference to discuss possible amendments to the Constitution.

Speaking during the zero hour of the House of Representatives on Tuesday, KC proposed forming a powerful commission led by a former Chief Justice to facilitate national dialogue on constitutional reform.

He said the commission should include constitutional experts, political party representatives, administrative specialists, and members of civil society.

KC stressed that in the context of national challenges, global conflicts, and growing social polarization, constitutional amendments cannot succeed through discussions limited only to those in power.

He added that a broad national dialogue would help ensure legitimacy, public trust, and a shared national consensus, while also strengthening long-term stability, democratic confidence, national unity, and reconciliation.
