Oli calls election results ‘magical, unexpected’

KATHMANDU: Chairperson of the CPN-UML, KP Sharma Oli, has described the recent election results as magical, unexpected, and unnatural.

Oli made the remarks on Thursday while addressing newly elected UML members of the House of Representatives at the party’s central office in Chyasal, following their oath-taking ceremony.

“The elections have just concluded. It is not yet the time to comment extensively on the process or the results,” Oli said. “But this election is unexpected, unnatural, astonishing, and magical.”

He claimed that UML and its opponents were targeted by false propaganda. “Some of our opponents, those against the goal of a prosperous Nepal and happy Nepalis, spread negative propaganda and promoted politics of hatred in the country,” he said.

Oli also alleged that those spreading politics of hatred received considerable support from multiple directions.

He urged UML lawmakers to work in favor of truth. “The Kaurava army was extraordinary and large, while the Pandava army was small. Yet, the outcome favored truth, and it will continue to do so,” he said. “We will continue to work for the country, the people, peace, good governance, and development.”

Oli also warned that the world is currently in an extraordinary and unstable situation. “What is happening in the world today is extraordinary. No decisive steps have been taken to stop it. Nations are facing existential crises. Many are living in fear. Reliable efforts for global peace are lacking,” he said.

He added that the ongoing international efforts cannot be considered sufficient or effective. “In this context, we are committed to politics of integrity, humanity, justice, truth, progress, and peace,” Oli said, noting that Nepal’s political situation is also challenging. “But we are continuing our work,” he added.
