JANAKPURDHAM: A husband and wife have been found dead in Mathileshwor, Mithila Bihari Municipality-3, in Dhanusha district.

Rina Devi Yadav, 30, who had been staying at her maternal home, was found with a sharp weapon wound to her neck. Police suspect that she may have been murdered. Her husband, Umesh Yadav, 35, was found hanging from a tree about one kilometre from her home this morning, according to Deputy Superintendent of Police Om Prakash Khanal, spokesperson for the District Police Office, Dhanusha.

Umesh, a resident of Bharatpur, Mithila Bihari Municipality-4, had returned home from foreign employment only a few days earlier. He had arrived at his in-laws’ home just a day before the incident.

The couple had a four-year-old son. According to DSP Khanal, a sharp weapon wound was also found on one of the boy’s thighs.

Khanal said the circumstances surrounding the incident appeared suspicious. “Police are investigating the incident after reaching the scene,” he said.

Police said an investigation was underway to determine the circumstances surrounding the deaths and establish the cause of the incident.
