Land ownership certificates distributed to 34 households in Ichhakamana

CHITWAN: Land ownership certificates were distributed to 34 landless households in Bhaluwang (Sundarbasti Sangam Tole) of Ichhakamana Rural Municipality-7 on Friday.

Chairperson of the National Land Commission, Balabhadra Bastola, handed over the certificates to the beneficiaries.

Speaking at the programme, Bastola said all eligible landless squatters would receive land ownership certificates within 500 days of his tenure, provided there is effective coordination among all concerned stakeholders.

He stressed that achieving the target would require support from local governments, district-level land commissions and the applicants themselves.

Also speaking at the event, Chitwan Chief District Officer and Chairperson of the District Land Problem Resolution Facilitation Committee, Ganesh Aryal, said land ownership certificates would be issued to applicants who complete the required process in coordination with the respective local governments. He added that necessary measures would also be taken to assist those who have yet to complete the process.

Aryal said land measurement, mapping, registration and certification work is progressing across all local governments in the district.

According to officials, around 42,000 landless squatters in Chitwan have applied for land ownership certificates.
