Kulman Ghising says Ujyalo Nepal will run ‘people’s government from the streets’

KATHMANDU: Kulman Ghising, chair of the Ujyalo Nepal Party, has said the party will run a people’s government from the streets.

Speaking at a Bagmati Province-level leaders’ gathering and training program on Wednesday, Ghising said the party has received a mandate from the recent House of Representatives elections to lead a government representing ordinary citizens from the streets.

Stating that the government of the streets now belongs to Ujyalo Nepal, he said the party would play a strong role in steering the country toward prosperity through grassroots mobilization.

Ghising added that the party would move forward by supporting the government’s positive initiatives while holding it accountable for its shortcomings.

Despite failing to secure electoral victories despite fielding candidates nationwide, he said he felt the party had “won despite losing.”

He also noted that it was significant for voters to give nearly a two-thirds majority to a single party in the election held for the sake of stability in the country.

Ghising further said the party would now focus on expanding its organizational structure down to the village and community levels.
