Probe report recommends action against Oli, Lekhak and Khapung

KATHMANDU: A probe report on the violence during the Gen-Z protests has reportedly recommended legal action against former prime minister KP Sharma Oli, former home minister Ramesh Lekhak, and former inspector general of police Chandra Kuber Khapung.

According to details published by Jana Aastha Weekly, the report suggests prison sentences ranging from three to ten years and fines between Rs 30,000 and Rs 100,000 for the three officials.

The recommendations were reportedly made in the report prepared by a commission led by former justice Gauri Bahadur Karki, which was formed to investigate casualties and destruction during the protests.

The commission is said to have recommended that the government initiate legal proceedings based on relevant provisions of the Muluki Criminal Code, citing negligence or failure in duty that led to loss of life during the protests.
