Traffic police collect Rs 479,000 in fines within 24 hours



KATHMANDU: Traffic police in the Kathmandu Valley took action against 1,841 drivers for violating traffic rules during checks conducted at various locations over the past 24 hours.

According to the Kathmandu Valley Traffic Police Office, the enforcement drive generated revenue of Rs 479,501 through fines.

Senior Superintendent of Police and Chief of the Kathmandu Valley Traffic Police Office, Nabaraj Adhikari, said that action was taken against 107 drivers for driving under the influence of alcohol, 192 for ride-sharing violations, 183 for jumping red lights, 126 for speeding, 41 for lane violations, 75 for driving on pavements, 149 for unnecessary honking, 77 for violating one-way traffic rules, and 891 for other offences.
