NC President Thapa announces schedule for 15th general convention



KATHMANDU: Nepali Congress President Gagan Kumar Thapa on Tuesday presented the schedule for the party’s 15th general convention during a meeting of the Central Working Committee at the party’s central office in Sanepa.

The party plans to inaugurate the convention on September 9, coinciding with the birth anniversary of the party founder Bishweshwar Prasad Koirala. Accordingly, the central convention is scheduled to take place on Septemeber 9, 10 and 11.

The proposed schedule includes:

  • From April 4 to 13, new active membership forms will be distributed to wards.
  • Representatives will be assigned in all 165 constituencies for membership distribution and renewal.
  • From April 14 to May 14, active membership will be updated in all 6,743 wards.
  • Members must submit forms at their respective wards, which will be provided with IDs and passwords for membership registration.
  • A membership campaign will run until May 14.
  • From May 15 to 29, active memberships will be sent from wards and municipalities to districts and regions, with entries to be completed by June 8.
  • The Central Working Committee will verify the data by June 29, and the final list of active members will be sent to the Central Election Committee by the end of the month.
  • The central body will finalize active membership by June 29.
  • Decisions regarding the public relations committee will be made by July.
  • Ward-level conventions: July 22
  • Municipality-level conventions: July 28
  • Provincial Assembly area conventions: August 8
  • House of Representatives area conventions: August 15
  • District conventions: August 22 to 24
  • Provincial conventions: August 31 to September 1
  • Central general convention: September 9 to 11

The party leadership said the detailed schedule aims to ensure smooth preparation and participation at all levels ahead of the 15th general convention.
