Home Minister honors officials for role in successful parliamentary elections



KATHMANDU: Home Minister Om Prakash Aryal on Monday honored government officials and security personnel for their role in ensuring the successful conduct of the House of Representatives elections.

At a ceremony held at the ministry, Aryal presented letters of appreciation to senior officials and heads of security agencies.

Those recognized included Home Secretary Raj Kumar Shrestha, Defense Secretary Kedarnath Sharma, Lieutenant General Pradeep Jung KC, Inspector General of Police Dan Bahadur Karki, Armed Police Force Chief Raju Aryal, and Chief of the National Investigation Department Tekendra Karki.

Officials from district security committees in Kathmandu Valley, along with senior Home Ministry personnel, were also honored. The minister extended congratulations to all staff and security forces deployed during the elections.

Aryal said the elections were conducted successfully and set a new benchmark, noting that there were no incidents of violence and no need for re-polling. He credited the outcome to coordinated efforts, collective leadership, and effective collaboration among all stakeholders.

He added that security agencies and administrative bodies, from central to district levels, played a crucial and responsible role in maintaining order and ensuring a smooth electoral process.

The minister also emphasized that improved decision-making and stronger coordination contributed to the success of the elections, noting that authorities exercised greater scrutiny before issuing directives compared to previous polls.

Ministry spokesperson Ananda Kafle said the ministry’s coordinated leadership helped maintain law and order and ensured effective election security across the country.
