Five-member probe committee formed to investigate Dhading bus crash



KATHMANDU: The government has formed a five-member task force to investigate the bus accident that occurred at Bhaisigauda in Benighat Rorang Rural Municipality-5 of Dhading along the Prithvi Highway.

The passenger bus, en route to Kathmandu from Pokhara, plunged nearly 200 meters down into the Trishuli River, killing 19 people and injuring 25 others.

A meeting held at the Ministry of Home Affairs decided to constitute the probe committee following the tragic incident. The meeting, chaired by Home Minister Om Prakash Aryal, was attended by representatives from security agencies, the Department of Transport Management, the Department of Roads, transport entrepreneurs and labor unions.

According to Home Ministry spokesperson Ananda Kafle, the five-member task force, led by a joint secretary, has been assigned to carry out a detailed investigation into the cause of the accident and submit a report.

Soon after receiving information about the incident, personnel from the Nepali Army, Nepal Police, Armed Police Force, and local residents carried out rescue operations at the site. The bodies of the deceased were recovered from the riverbank, and the injured have been taken to various hospitals for treatment, the ministry said.
