Curfew imposed in Birgunj Metropolitan area following clash

BIRGUNJ: The District Administration Office, Parsa, has imposed a curfew in the Birgunj Metropolitan City area following a clash between two groups of youths on Sunday evening.

According to the administration, the curfew has come into effect from 9:45 am Monday until further notice, considering the prevailing security situation after the incident.

Chief District Officer Bhola Dahal said the curfew has been enforced within a defined perimeter — from Bypass Road in the east, Sirsiya River in the west, Gandak Chowk in the north, and Shankaracharya Gate in the south.

Movement of people within the designated area has been strictly prohibited. The administration has also banned all forms of gatherings, rallies, demonstrations, assemblies, meetings and sit-ins within the curfew zone.

However, vehicles providing essential services have been exempted from the restriction. Journalists, students appearing for pre-scheduled university examinations, examination personnel, tourist vehicles, and vehicles belonging to human rights organisations and diplomatic missions have been allowed to operate.

The District Administration Office stated that security personnel will facilitate the movement of air passengers upon verification of valid air tickets.
