122 patients receive free cataract surgery in Jumla

JUMLA: A total of 122 patients underwent free cataract surgery during a two-day eye camp organized in Jumla district.

The camp was conducted by Nepal Netra Jyoti Sangh Jumla with technical support from the Himalaya Eye Hospital, Pokhara. According to the organizers, 546 people received various eye care services during the camp.

Nepal Netra Jyoti Sangh Jumla Chair Jagadish Chaulagain said the services particularly benefited people facing financial hardship and those living in remote areas who otherwise struggle to access treatment.

Earlier, separate free eye camps were held in all eight local levels of the district, where nearly 1,100 people received specialist services from senior ophthalmologist Dr Hari Bikram Adhikari and his team from Himalaya Eye Hospital.

Chandannath Eye Hospital Eye Worker Supervisor Dal Bahadur Mahatara said the initiative had significantly helped needy patients by providing essential eye care at no cost.
