Kathmandu’s minimum temperature recorded at 9.1°C this morning

KATHMANDU: Kathmandu’s minimum temperature was recorded at 9.1 degrees Celsius at 5:45 am today, according to the Weather Forecasting Division.

At the same time on Saturday, the minimum temperature stood at 8 degrees Celsius and had dropped further to 7.5 degrees Celsius during the 8:45 am reading. The day’s official minimum temperature is recorded at 8:45 am, and it may decline further before stabilizing.

Last Friday, the minimum temperature in the capital was 12 degrees Celsius. Meteorologists explain that cloudy conditions during the night generally lead to higher minimum temperatures in the morning, while clear skies overnight result in lower readings.

In contrast, maximum temperatures tend to decrease if the sky remains cloudy throughout the day and rise when conditions are clear and sunny. Despite daily fluctuations, experts say overall temperatures are gradually increasing as the winter season draws to a close.

The Division records daily minimum and maximum temperatures across the country, including Kathmandu. The minimum temperature represents the lowest reading within a 24-hour period and is officially measured at 8:45 am, while the maximum temperature, indicating the day’s highest reading, is recorded at 5:45 pm.

According to meteorologists, the minimum temperature reflects weather conditions from night to early morning, whereas the maximum temperature indicates daytime conditions.
