257 candidates file nominations across Kathmandu’s 10 constituencies



KATHMANDU: Kathmandu, the federal capital, has a total of 710,708 registered voters across its 10 constituencies, according to the District Election Office. Of these, 364,000 are women, 346,116 are men, and seven voters are registered under other categories.

For the upcoming House of Representatives election on March 5, Kathmandu will have 320 polling locations and 817 polling centers, District Election Officer Thakur Prasad Bhattarai said.

In Constituency 1, there are 22 polling locations and 57 polling centers, with 25,252 female and 23,237 male voters, totaling 48,849. Constituency 2, the largest in terms of voter count, has 40 polling locations and 100 polling centers, with 43,393 female and 45,315 male voters, totaling 88,708.

Constituency 3 has 29 polling locations and 72 polling centers, accommodating 32,923 female and 31,556 male voters, a total of 64,479. Constituency 4 has 33 polling locations and 88 centers, with 39,599 female and 36,542 male voters, totaling 76,141. Constituency 5 has 31 polling locations and 90 centers, with 40,832 female, 37,278 male, and four others, totaling 78,114 voters.

In Constituency 6, there are 32 polling locations and 79 centers, with 34,956 female, 32,802 male, and one other voter, totaling 67,759. Constituency 7 has 29 polling locations and 78 centers, with 34,738 female and 32,673 male voters, totaling 67,411. Constituency 8 has 23 polling locations and 65 centers, with 29,898 female and 27,913 male voters, totaling 57,811.

Constituency 9 has 34 polling locations and 90 centers, with 40,278 female and 38,217 male voters, totaling 78,495. Constituency 10, the largest in terms of polling locations with 47 and 98 centers, has 42,716 female, 40,583 male, and two other voters, totaling 83,301.

A total of 257 candidates have filed their nominations across Kathmandu’s 10 constituencies. Constituency 1 has 30 candidates, Constituency 2 has 22, Constituency 3 has 24, Constituency 4 has 28, Constituency 5 has 27, Constituency 6 has 22, Constituency 7 has 28, Constituency 8 has 22, and both Constituencies 9 and 10 have 27 candidates each, Bhattarai added.
