Parliamentary Hearing Committee to refer security-related complaints to ministry

KATHMANDU: The Parliamentary Hearing Committee under the Federal Parliament has decided to forward security-related complaints it has received to the concerned ministry for necessary action.

The decision was taken at the committee’s meeting held at Singha Durbar on Friday. Committee Chair Bodh Narayan Shrestha said the complaints would be forwarded to the concerned ministry because the committee does not have the jurisdiction to investigate or discuss security-related matters.

Shrestha also said the committee had already provided written responses to requests for information and instructed its secretariat to provide additional details in accordance with the rules, if required.

He said there was no established practice of preparing separate personal notes or making recommendations based on statements made by individual participants. According to him, all discussions of the committee meetings are preserved as audio recordings and have also been made public through the media, allowing them to be accessed for reference.
