KATHMANDU: Newly appointed non-resident Iranian Ambassador to Nepal, Dr. Mohammad Fathali, has emphasized the need to further strengthen bilateral relations between Nepal and Iran, highlighting their historical and civilizational links.

Speaking at a reception in Kathmandu on Thursday, Ambassador Fathali said Nepal–Iran relations are not limited to politics but are rooted in ancient civilizational and deep cultural ties, giving the partnership a unique foundation.

“I strongly reinforce the need to enhance people-to-people relations and exchanges between Iran and Nepal,” he said, adding that both countries should explore greater cooperation in tourism, trade, and broader economic engagement.

He further noted that Iran attaches high priority to its relations with Nepal and stressed the importance of expanding economic cooperation to deepen bilateral ties.

Earlier on Thursday, Ambassador Dr. Fathali presented his credentials to President Ram Chandra Paudel at a special ceremony held at Shital Niwas, the Office of the President in Kathmandu.
