Clash between two communities in Rautahat’s Gaur escalates; prohibitory order imposed

RAUTAHAT: A clash between two communities in Sanagadh village of Gaur Municipality–6 has taken a serious turn and remains unresolved even after three days.

What began as a minor dispute on Thursday night escalated into incidents of arson and vandalism.

According to police, the dispute arose over music played during a wedding ceremony. The situation intensified as the music was played during night prayers at a nearby mosque, leading to a heated exchange and alleged physical assault on some individuals.

Following the incident, stone-pelting reportedly resumed between the two sides on Friday morning, further aggravating tensions. The local administration said the unrest has gradually spread to other nearby areas.

Meanwhile, the District Administration Office, Rautahat, has imposed a prohibitory order in certain areas of Gaur–6 in view of the deteriorating situation.

In a notice issued by the Chief District Officer, the administration has banned assemblies, rallies, gatherings, sit-ins, sloganeering, and similar activities until further notice to maintain law and order.

According to the notice, more than five people are prohibited from assembling within the designated boundary, and demonstrations or provocative activities have been restricted.

The administration stated that the prohibitory order has been enforced in sensitive locations under Gaur Municipality–6. It has warned that legal action will be taken against those violating the order.

Authorities have urged local residents to help maintain peace and refrain from spreading or believing rumors. Security presence in the area has been increased.
