KATHMANDU: Shram Sanskriti Party Chair Harka Sampang has said his party is ready to face suspension if necessary in its bid to ensure government accountability to Parliament.
Speaking to journalists at the Parliament Building in Singha Durbar on Wednesday, Sampang said his party’s protest will continue in the coming days as well, and that they are prepared to be suspended for raising their voices.
He said they will continue opposing the government for a full five-year term while in the opposition.
Sampang also expressed disagreement with rulings issued by the Speaker, which he said restrict lawmakers from questioning the government.
According to him, the party is willing to face suspension in defense of parliamentary sovereignty and legislative procedures.
He said they were compelled to protest because several key issues raised by the party—including squatters’ problems, Lipulekh, and foreign debt—have not received responses from the government.
Sampang added that the public will ultimately evaluate a government that does not respond to citizens’ questions and concerns.
