Addressing a special ceremony in Kathmandu on the occasion of the 76th National Democracy Day, PM Karki emphasized that the true relevance of democracy should be reflected in everything from freedom of expression on the internet to the price of vegetables in the kitchen.

Home Minister urges voters to participate confidently in upcoming election

Home Minister Om Prakash Aryal has urged voters to take part confidently in the House of Representatives election on March 5, assuring that all necessary security arrangements have been made. Addressing a meeting of the Central Security Committee today, Minister Aryal said the election will be conducted with strict and reliable security measures, and he is confident that with the cooperation and coordination of all relevant agencies, the polls will be completed on the scheduled date.

NC pledges political transformation, embraces Gen-Z uprising in election manifesto

The Nepali Congress has unveiled its election manifesto titled ‘Pratigya’ for the House of Representatives election scheduled for March 5, prioritizing political transformation and governance reform. Acknowledging the Gen-Z uprising of September 8-9, the party declared itself fully transformed, stating, “We have changed, now we will change the country’s environment.” The manifesto places good governance at its core, pledging to eliminate corruption, uphold the rule of law and promote accountable politics.

NC President Gagan Thapa makes public ‘evidence’ against Rabi Lamichhane in cooperative fund case

President of the Nepali Congress, Gagan Kumar Thapa, on Thursday made public what he claimed to be evidence showing the direct involvement of Rabi Lamichhane, chair of the Rastriya Swatantra Party, in the misappropriation of savings from cooperatives in five districts. Speaking at an open question–answer session held in Kathmandu, Thapa presented copies of court documents and cheques, claiming they substantiate Lamichhane’s involvement in the alleged embezzlement of millions of rupees from various cooperatives during his tenure as Managing Director of Gorkha Media Network and as a former Home Minister.

Nepali Congress pledges clean politics, limits ministries ahead of polls

Nepali Congress President Gagan Kumar Thapa has vowed to steer the party toward transparent governance and avoid coalition politics that, he said, have historically corrupted Nepali politics. Addressing a direct Q&A program in Janakpur, Thapa stressed that the party will correct past administrative mistakes and strengthen its core values. “We come with a pledge that a transformed Nepali Congress will change the country. We will sharpen our principles even further,” he stated.

RSP commits to transparent governance, universal health and education reforms

The Rastriya Swatantra Party has committed to eliminating corruption and promoting economic and social reforms in its election pledge unveiled from Surkhet, Karnali Province, ahead of the March 5 polls. According to point 5 of the party’s pledge, Rastriya Swatantra Party will adopt zero tolerance toward all forms of corruption. The party also promised to make the Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority independent and effective.

Speaking at a program in Kathmandu on Thursday to unveil the party’s election manifesto, Oli said the upcoming vote is a contest between nationalists and what he termed anti-national forces.

Leaders of the Rastriya Swatantra Party have released their electoral pledge for the March 5 elections from Karnali Province. The pledge was publicly unveiled at a campaign rally held at Ghantaghar Chowk in Surkhet, with Rabi Lamichhane, senior leader Balendra Shah, and deputy chairpersons D.P. Construction entrepreneurs have objected to remarks made by senior leader of the Rastriya Swatantra Party, Balen Shah, during the party’s election rally held in Dhangadhi on Wednesday. Speaking for nearly four minutes at the rally, Shah had criticized construction delays, claiming that roads meant to be completed within two years were taking up to 20 years. He further stated that roads must be completed “whether by tying (contractors) to trees, making them lie on the road, or locking them in sheds.”

Kathmandu Police urge public not to spread misleading content using AI

The District Police Range Kathmandu has urged the public not to disseminate misleading, fabricated and baseless information on social media using artificial intelligence (AI). Issuing a statement on Thursday, the police said serious attention has been drawn to the recent trend of circulating distorted and unverified content online, and requested users to refrain from such activities. According to police, a vehicle driver who assaulted and mistreated a pedestrian along the Ring Road section at Narayangopal Chowk in Maharajgunj has been immediately taken into custody. Legal proceedings against the accused are currently underway.

Acting Chief Election Commissioner urges free and unhindered election campaigning

Acting Chief Election Commissioner Ram Prasad Bhandari has called on political parties and candidates to conduct their election campaigns freely and without obstruction. Issuing a message today on the occasion of the 10th Election Day, Bhandari urged all concerned bodies to create a conducive environment for a clean, free, fair and peaceful election by ensuring necessary security arrangements for election employees, monitors, observers and voters.

HoR polls: EC issues Temporary Voter List Procedure 2082

The Election Commission (EC) has issued the Temporary Voter List Procedure, 2082 to streamline the collection of temporary voter lists and facilitate voting under the proportional representation system for House of Representatives (HoR) elections. The procedure has been introduced under Section 44 of the Voter List Act, 2073. In accordance with the new guidelines, the Commission will publish a public notice outlining the schedule for collecting temporary voter details. The notice will be disseminated through national-level media as required.
