NC lawmaker KC questions delay in release of Gen-Z protest report

KATHMANDU: Nepali Congress lawmaker Arjun Narsingh KC has objected to the government’s failure to make public the National Human Rights Commission’s report on the Gen-Z movement.

Speaking during the zero hour of the House of Representatives on Monday, KC questioned why the report prepared under the coordination of Lily Thapa has not been released.

“Why and in whose interest has the Human Rights Commission report been withheld?” he asked, demanding that Parliament be informed about the reasons behind the delay.

KC also called for the formal publication of the commission report led by Gauri Bahadur Karki and urged that copies be made available to lawmakers.

Referring to the events of September 9, 2025, KC said Nepali citizens were left “orphaned, stateless and helpless” for nearly 12 hours, adding that the government must ensure such an incident is never repeated.

He further demanded an end to what he described as attempts to conceal both reports and mislead the public. KC urged the government to immediately release the reports and take maximum legal action against those found guilty in accordance with the law.
