Two killed in motorcycle accident in Gulmi



GULMI: Two people were killed in a motorcycle accident along the Rudrabeni–Purtighat road section of the Kaligandaki Corridor last night.

The deceased have been identified as motorcycle rider Laxman Thapa, 34, and pillion rider Girman Singh Rana, 45, both residents of Bhustung in Kaligandaki Rural Municipality-3 of Syangja district, according to Deputy Superintendent of Police Ganga Bahadur Saru of the District Police Office, Gulmi.

Police said the accident occurred at around 10 pm on Sunday when a motorcycle (Lu 36 Pa 3627) heading towards Chemi from Rudrabeni veered off the road and fell nearly three meters below at Thulabagar Chaldi in Satyawati Rural Municipality-1.

Thapa sustained serious head injuries, while Rana suffered injuries to the head and legs in the accident. Both died during treatment at the Primary Health Center in Ridi later that night, police said.

After receiving information about the incident, a police team led by Deputy Inspector of Police Narendra Bahadur BK from the Area Police Office, Johang, and Inspector Gyan Bahadur Majhi from the Area Police Office, Ridi, reached the accident site.

Police have taken the motorcycle into custody for further investigation. The bodies were sent to Gulmi Hospital in Tamghas for post-mortem examination this morning, according to police.
