Gagan Kumar Thapa: No one can burn Singha Durbar wearing a mask

KATHMANDU: Addressing a pledge assembly in Janakpur on Wednesday, Nepali Congress President Gagan Kumar Thapa asserted that no one will be allowed to set Singha Durbar on fire wearing a mask.

Speaking at the event, Thapa said the country should no longer have to bear losses and instability. Referring to incidents on September 8 and 9, he pledged that such events would not be repeated.

“No one should be killed by the state’s bullets like on September 8, no one should have to lose their life again. If youths take to the streets in protest, the Nepali Congress will address their sentiments,” he said. “And no one will be allowed to burn Singha Durbar wearing a mask again like on September 9.”

Thapa also reiterated that every Nepali must be able to live with dignity, receive treatment without fear, and not die due to lack of healthcare. He said the party has brought forward a foundation to achieve these goals.

Acknowledging that all commitments may not be fulfilled within five years, he said the party is ready to face questions and criticism and improve accordingly. He further expressed commitment to advancing Nepal toward modern prosperity while taking pride in its history.
