KATHMANDU: The Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA) has announced scheduled power outages in several areas of Kathmandu today.
According to a notice issued by the NEA, electricity supply will be disrupted in areas under the Maharajgunj Distribution Center as part of ongoing work under the Kathmandu Valley Central and North Distribution System Strengthening Project.
The project involves undergrounding the electricity distribution system in the Sheetal Niwas (President’s Office) area. Power supply will also be interrupted to install technical equipment in sections where underground cabling work has already been completed.
As per the Authority, power will remain cut from 11:00 am to 2:00 pm in areas along the Panipokhari feeder, including the area in front of Shangri-La Hotel, Lazimpat, parts of Panipokhari, Maharajgunj, and Tribhuvan University Teaching Hospital.
Similarly, electricity will be disrupted from 11:00 am to 2:00 pm in areas surrounding the President’s House, the Central Investigation Bureau of Nepal Police, and the Nepal Police Hospital.
Power cuts will also affect areas around Baluwatar, Chundevi, and Panchakanya during the same period. The Nepal Electricity Authority has apologized for the inconvenience caused and stated that electricity supply may be restored earlier if the scheduled work is completed ahead of time.
