KATHMANDU: Nepal faces a crucial challenge in the final round of the ICC World Cup League 2 as it seeks to produce strong results and secure its place among the top six teams in the standings to retain its One-Day International (ODI) status.
Nepal has only one series remaining in the current World Cup League 2 cycle, in which it will face Oman and Canada. Former national cricket team member Deependra Chaudhary said Nepal could benefit from its recent success in the ACC Premier Cup.
“Nepal has only one series left in the ongoing World Cup League 2, against Oman and Canada. Based on their recent performances, neither team appears particularly strong. The Nepali team is also confident after winning the ACC Premier Cup, and it can take advantage of that confidence,” Chaudhary said.
Nepal is currently seventh in the World Cup League 2 standings. It has played 32 matches, winning 11 and losing 19, while two matches ended in shared points.
Nepal now needs to win at least three matches to break into the top six and retain its ODI status. Nepal is scheduled to play its final League 2 series in October.
