Birgunj Customs collects Rs 199.40 billion revenue in 10 months



BIRGUNJ: Birgunj Customs Office has collected Rs 199.40 billion in revenue during the first 10 months of the current fiscal year.

Although the Department of Customs had set a target of Rs 223.18 billion for the period, the office achieved 89.35 percent of the target.

Information Officer Uday Singh Bista said revenue collection during the current fiscal year has remained satisfactory.

According to him, petroleum imports, vehicles and automobile parts continue to be the major sources of customs revenue at the office.

The Department of Customs has assigned the office an annual revenue target of Rs 273.39 billion for the current fiscal year. With two months still remaining in the fiscal year, the office expects further revenue growth.

The customs office collected Rs 18.44 billion in Shrawan, Rs 20.73 billion in Bhadra, Rs 19.09 billion in Ashoj, Rs 17.33 billion in Kartik and Rs 20.80 billion in Mangsir.

Similarly, it collected Rs 20.20 billion in Poush, Rs 18.92 billion in Magh, Rs 19.34 billion in Falgun, Rs 22.82 billion in Chaitra and Rs 21.74 billion in Baisakh, according to Bista.
