Family seeks swift probe into Inisha BK murder, meets Home Minister

KATHMANDU: The family of 16-year-old Inisha BK has demanded a swift investigation into her rape and murder, urging authorities to bring those responsible to justice.

Representing the victim’s family, Chandra Bahadur BK and Tapendra BK met Home Minister Om Prakash Aryal on Sunday and submitted a memorandum seeking a fair probe into the incident.

They urged the government to make the facts of the case public and ensure that those involved are brought under the legal framework to deliver justice to the victim.

The family also called on concerned authorities, civil society, journalists and all stakeholders to take the issue seriously to prevent similar cases of sexual violence and heinous crimes against women and children in the future. They stressed the need to ensure justice and build a safer society.

Receiving the memorandum, Minister Aryal assured the family that the incident would be thoroughly investigated and the perpetrators brought to justice. He said the government is committed to ending impunity and maintaining law and order by controlling criminal activities and undesirable incidents.

On March 7, the body of Inisha BK was found in a community forest near Shahid Park in Birendranagar-4, Birendranagar of Surkhet District. Authorities said she had been raped and murdered.
