KMC Police Chief Rajunath resigns, eyes parliamentary election

KATHMANDU: Kathmandu Metropolitan Police Force Chief Rajunath Pandey has resigned from his post, effective from January 18.

Confirming his resignation, Pandey said he will remain in office until January 17. “I have submitted my resignation effective from the 18th,” he said.

Sources say Pandey is preparing to enter active politics and contest the House of Representatives election scheduled for March 5.

His resignation comes amid growing interest from security officials transitioning into electoral politics ahead of the upcoming parliamentary polls.
