Staff nurses stage protest at Sahid Memorial Hospital over salary gap

KATHMANDU: Staff nurses at Sahid Memorial Hospital have launched a protest demanding implementation of the government-determined salary scale.

The nurses staged demonstrations within the hospital premises from Friday morning, accusing the hospital management of failing to enforce the official pay structure.

According to the protesting staff, they are currently receiving around Rs 19,000 per month, while the government has fixed the salary for staff nurses at Rs 34,000.

Health assistant Bhupendra Khatri said repeated requests to implement the government-approved salary scale were ignored, forcing them to resort to protest.

He added that around 40 hospital employees are currently participating in the agitation.
