NC Special Convention supporter Sharma brings 8-point proposal to Sanepa for final talks

KATHMANDU: Nepali Congress General Secretary Bishwa Prakash Sharma has arrived at the party’s central office in Sanepa with an eight-point proposal aimed at reaching consensus with the establishment faction.

The proposal, which includes nominating Gagan Kumar Thapa as the party’s prime ministerial candidate, is Sharma’s final effort to negotiate with the establishment amid the ongoing Special General Convention.

Sources said the establishment, led by acting president Purna Bahadur Khadka, has prepared a separate Central Working Committee session to consider disciplinary action against Special Convention supporters. Sharma met with the establishment leadership, including leaders from the centrist faction such as Dr Shekhar Koirala.

Due to Sharma’s dialogue with the establishment, the Special Convention election schedule has been postponed until 4 pm.

At the convention, Thapa is the sole candidate for party president, while Bishwa Prakash Sharma and Pradeep Paudel are contesting the general secretary positions.

Special Convention supporters are preparing to approve all leadership positions and the Central Working Committee by consensus. Once a unanimous leadership is selected, the supporters plan to proceed to the Election Commission to formalize the process.
