Escapee from Nakkhu Prison arrested in Sindhupalchowk



KATHMANDU: Police have arrested an inmate who escaped from Nakkhu Prison in Lalitpur during the Gen Z movement held on September 8 and 9, 2025.

The arrested individual has been identified as 44-year-old Sunil Shrestha of Sailung Rural Municipality–8, Dolakha.

According to police, Shrestha had been serving a five-year prison sentence in connection with dacoity and theft cases before escaping custody.

A team deployed from the Kathmandu Valley Crime Investigation Office apprehended him from Mudhe area of Sunkoshi Rural Municipality–9 in Sindhupalchowk.

Following his arrest, authorities have returned him to Nakkhu Prison.

Police said further procedures are being carried out in accordance with existing legal provisions.
