Over 1,600 drivers penalised for traffic violations in Kathmandu Valley



KATHMANDU: A total of 1,687 drivers were penalised for violating traffic rules in the past 24 hours, generating Rs 2.031 million in revenue for the state treasury.

According to the Kathmandu Valley Traffic Police Office, action was taken against 85 drivers for drink driving, 163 for operating ride-sharing services against regulations, 142 for violating traffic signals, and 117 for overspeeding.

Similarly, 66 drivers were penalised for failing to follow lane discipline, 86 for honking in restricted areas, 98 for parking on footpaths, and 121 for driving on one-way roads.

The traffic police also took action against 804 individuals for various other traffic rule violations.
