Special Convention faction to boycott NC Central Working Committee meeting



KATHMANDU: The faction backing the ongoing Nepali Congress Special Convention has decided to boycott the Central Working Committee (CWC) meeting called by the party establishment.

The meeting, scheduled for 11 am on Tuesday at the party’s central office in Lalitpur, will not be attended by leaders aligned with the Special Convention, according to the decision taken by that camp.

Chief Secretary Krishna Prasad Paudel has directed that CWC office bearers and members, along with presidents of all seven provincial committees, must be present at the meeting.

Meanwhile, the Special Convention led by General Secretaries Gagan Thapa and Bishwoprakash Sharma has been underway at Bhrikutimandap in Kathmandu since Sunday.

In this context, the Special Convention faction has opted not to participate in the suddenly convened CWC meeting, arguing that it is aimed at undermining the ongoing convention.

At the same time, talks between the two sides have begun. Although a negotiation committee has been formed, uncertainty remains over the time and venue for the talks.
