Maha Shivaratri preparations at Pashupatinath in final stage

KATHMANDU: The Pashupati Area Development Trust (PADT) has said that preparations for the upcoming Maha Shivaratri festival have reached the final stage.

Organizing a press conference in Kathmandu on Thursday on the eve of the festival, the Trust informed that necessary arrangements have been completed through various sub-committees formed for the occasion.

According to PADT, cleaning and decoration works in the Pashupatinath area, crowd management for smooth darshan, and security arrangements have entered the final phase.

To ensure the festival is observed in a safe and orderly manner, security personnel from the Nepal Army, Nepal Police, Traffic Police, Armed Police Force, National Investigation Department, and the Trust’s own security unit will be mobilized.

PADT Executive Director Subash Chandra Joshi said all four doors of the Pashupatinath Temple will be opened from 2:00 am on the day of Maha Shivaratri. Queue arrangements have been made from four different entry points for devotees.

The Trust has also urged the public not to store, sell, or transport meat, alcohol, marijuana, bhang, charas, and other prohibited substances in the Pashupati area.

The Trust stated that sadhus and saints from various countries have already arrived at the temple premises to celebrate the festival. This year, Maha Shivaratri falls on Falgun 3 (Sunday).
