Four Nepali cricketers climb up ICC T20I rankings



KATHMANDU: Four Nepali cricketers have improved their positions in the latest ICC T20 International (T20I) rankings released on Wednesday.

According to the International Cricket Council (ICC), Nepal national team captain Rohit Paudel, vice-captain Deependra Singh Airee, opener Kushal Bhurtel and leg-spinner Sandeep Lamichhane have all made gains in the updated rankings.

All-rounder Dipendra Singh Airee registered improvement in both batting and bowling categories. He climbed four places in the batting rankings to reach 72nd position, while moving up five spots in the bowling rankings to secure 71st place. His all-rounder ranking remains unchanged at sixth.

Captain Rohit Paudel improved by three places in the batting rankings and is now positioned at 75th. Opener Kushal Bhurtel also made a four-place jump, moving up to 77th in the batting standings.

In the bowling rankings, Sandeep Lamichhane achieved a significant rise, climbing 10 places to reach 74th position following his consistent performances.

Nepal, currently competing in the ICC T20 World Cup, is set to face Italy in its second match today. After suffering a narrow four-run defeat to England in the opening match, Nepal will be aiming to secure its first historic win of the tournament.
