US Indo-Pacific Command Chief to arrive in Kathmandu today



KATHMANDU: Admiral Samuel Paparo, Commander of the United States Indo-Pacific Command, is arriving in Kathmandu today (Thursday) for a three-day official visit. The visit is part of a pre-scheduled regular engagement.

According to the Public Relations and Information Directorate of the Nepali Army, Admiral Paparo will hold high-level official meetings during his stay. Military relations between the two countries, bilateral interests, and security concerns are expected to be discussed.

During the visit, Admiral Paparo will travel to the Nepali Army’s Birendra Peacekeeping Training Center in Panchkhal, Kavre. There, he will observe the facilities and learn about the Nepali Army’s role in United Nations peacekeeping operations and its training programs.

The visit is considered significant, as Nepal is among the leading contributors of troops to UN peacekeeping missions. It is expected to further strengthen US assistance and cooperation, particularly in the areas of humanitarian assistance, disaster response, and international peacekeeping.
