Government announces special unit to combat cybercrime and strengthen cybersecurity

KATHMANDU: The government has announced plans to form a special unit aimed at strengthening cybersecurity and reducing digital crimes in the country.

The announcement was made through the government’s policy and programme for the upcoming fiscal year presented on Monday.

According to the policy document, the new unit will focus on addressing growing cyber threats and digital crimes as Nepal expands its digital infrastructure and online services.

The government has also pledged to enhance the capacity of the Nepal Police and investigative agencies through additional institutional and technical support.

The policy comes amid increasing concerns over cyber fraud, online scams, data breaches and other technology-related crimes in the country.
